Gabriel calm over Arsenal interest
The Villarreal defender has previously spoken of his
desire to move to England and acknowledges the Gunners' pursuit but says
that his future remains in the hands of his agent
Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista will not allow himself to become distracted by the prospect of a move to Arsenal. The 24-year-old centre-back has established himself as a vital part of the Spanish side's back line during an impressive unbeaten run which has moved them firmly back into the race for the Champions League places.
Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Gabriel, with Villarreal reportedly keen on bringing Joel Campbell to El Madrigal in return after coach Marcelino admitted that he is eager to improve their options in wide areas.
The Brazilian has said in the past that it would be "a dream" for him to play in the Premier League but insists that he will not lose focus on his side's Primera Division campaign as speculation intensifies.
"Whether I go to Arsenal or stay at Villarreal, I won't lose my head," Gabriel was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
"I'm very calm. My head is at Villarreal and I'm very focused. My agent is working on making sure I continue being calm."
